FC Copenhagen vs Chelsea - Champions League Full Time Match Report: (Part 2)
A minute after the restart, the home-side decided to switch things up. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Vingaard-c24461 was brought on to replace Cesar Santini. The substitute seemed to have been given very direct orders as almost immediately after coming onto the pitch, Vingaard struck
a ranged effort towards the Chelsea goal. However the shot didn’t have sufficient pace on it and was easily gathered by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837.
In the 56th minute Chelsea put the match to rest, as Anelka scored his and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s second goal of the night. Lampard played the forward on with a brilliant pass and Anelka dashed onto the through ball to pile-drive it beyond the stretching Wiland.
In the 60th minute it seemed like Chelsea would go three up as Torres got through on goal. However Wiland managed to make a crucial diving save and kept the score at two goals.
The constant passing and retention of the ball started to get to the home-sides players, as they started to fly in with their tackles and as a result Pospech was booked in the 70th minute for a late challenge on Torres. In the 74th
minute Drogba was brought on, as the Ivorian replaced Anelka, who had done his share of work for the night.
A minute later, in the 75th minute Wendt managed to keep a Torres effort out of the goal by blocking the forwards shot off the line. Two minutes later, Copenhagen tried to switch things up again as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pierre-Bengtsson-c29991 was brought on for Wendt. However
the change seemed to have little to no effect on the overall flow of the game as Chelsea dominated possession, while the home side tried desperately to get plays working in their favour.
In the 85th minute Malouda was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yuri-Zhirkov-c37683. However the French midfielder managed to pick up a needless booking for taking too much time to get off the pitch. In the 88th minute Copenhagen brought on Zenneth Zohore to take
over from Jesper Gronkjaer. This substitution was one which was probably made to give Gronkjaer a rest because the midfielder had been very active in the midfeild.
The match eventually came to an end, with Chelsea cruising to victory thanks to the two goals scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786. For his fine efforts Anelka was awarded man of the match, despite him not playing the complete ninety minutes. This win also came at a
crucial time for Chelsea, who have not won a single game since they beat Sunderland away from home on the 1st of February, 2011.
The Blues will now have to build on this win and try and stay in contention in the Champions League. This will be crucial for the Blues if they expect any silverware this season. Theoretically Chelsea only has a chance at winning the Champions League and
have really no possibility winning in other cups. On the other hand, Copenhagen needs to get a game plan in place if they are to stand any chance of progressing towards the latter stages of the tournament.
