The match kicked off, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 looking to keep as much hold of the ball early on as they could. However Copenhagen wasn’t playing games and didn’t waste any time in showing their urgency to get things rolling. The aggression cost the Danish side as Ashley
Cole was taken out by Zanka in the 7th minute. The Copenhagen footballer was booked for his harsh and late tackle on the Chelsea full-back.
The resulting free-kick gave Chelsea a chance on goal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786
with a fine pass. The French forward then went on to thump a shot goal wards but saw his effort get blocked by a Copenhagen defender.
In the 14th minute Copenhagen managed to get their first effort on the Chelsea goal as Pospech took a snap towards the visitors. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 stepped up and helped his team survive the first real threat on the Blue’s goal.
Four minute later, the Blues had the opening goal of the night. Anelka created some space down on the right flank and then managed to dance past two players and get in shooting distance. The forward then smashed a grounded shot beyond the diving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Wiland-c18809
and as a result Chelsea were one up on the night.
The last real effort of the first half was created by Chelsea in the 33rd minute. Anelka flicked on a pass towards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, who then played the ball back to the racing French forward. Anelka then targeted a shot towards the Copenhagen
goal but saw his effort gathered up by Wiland.
Three minutes later Torres picked up a yellow card for a late challenge on Bolanos. The decision to card the player seemed a little harsh but there were no real protests from either side. For the remainder of the first half, Chelsea kept hold of the ball
for the most part and ended up going into the half time break with the score card reading one goal to nil in favour of the Blues.
