A playoffs spot might be sufficient for any team in Major League Soccer, but FC Dallas head coach, Schellas Hyndman, would not hold out for anything less than a postseason quarterfinal berth.
FCD currently hold the 7th place in the standings and are bound to undergo the play-in stage to secure a berth in the Western Conference quarter-finals.

For Hyndman, the postseason starts at the quarter-final round and in order to achieve the target, his team needs to defeat San Jose this weekend and leapfrog Rea Salt Lake into 3rd position in the Western Conference.
Hyndman sent a strong message to his players regarding the new objective: “We need a win against San Jose to have a chance at third place automatic playoff spot and bye in play-in round and that’s our goal. We’ll do all we can to avoid the wildcard playoffs
so we can be rested and ready for the next part of the playoffs.”
The game against the Quakes is scheduled for October 22 at Buck Shaw Stadium, and a win will not only secure a berth in the quarterfinals but will also provide a perfect closure to the Toros’ 2011 regular season.
The Texas-based team lost the 2010 MLS Cup final to the Rapids after a hard-fought 2-1 loss at BMO Field, Toronto. Hyndman plans to make up for that with silverware this year.
Midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Villar-c31036 are also in good shape for the playoffs.
However, the 2010 Most Valuable Player, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Ferreira-c10483, is still nursing his knee injury. He missed the regular season and is still uncertain of his comeback to the roster.
Injuries aside, Dallas is a strong group and Hyndman plans on starting the playoffs with all guns blazing.
