http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Dallas-c39095 out of postseason after 2-0 defeat to New York Red Bulls – MLS News
FC Dallas were defeated 2-0 by New York Red Bulls at their home ground, Pizza Hut Park, in a 2011 Play-offs wildcard match on Wednesday, October 26.
The Red Bulls will now play http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818 in the two-legged Conference semi-final in their bid to seal a final berth.
The FCD didn’t look for excuses after the defeat. The coaching staff and players took the blame for the lacklustre performances in the game.
“I thought we put some very good pressure on New York, but we just couldn’t get on the end of some of the services, or we couldn’t get the shot on the frame,” said head coach Schellas Hyndman.
The Texas-based team looked more dangerous in the first half but lacked the cutting edge in the final third, which denied them any sight at goal throughout the 90-minute stretch.
Marvin Chavez and Jackson had several chances in the first 45 minutes to take the Toros into the lead but were unable to cut through the RBNY defence.
The Red Bulls were tagged underdogs at the away turf but kept their cool and found their pace in the latter part of the first period. The visitors came close to scoring in the dying minutes of the first half, when FCD goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Hartman-c20728 was forced
to save Tim Ream’s shot from just outside the penalty area.
The hard-fought first half ended at a 0-0 score line, but the Red Bulls came strong in the second period, capitalizing on a 61st minute chance.
A defensive lapse led to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mehdi-Ballouchy-c25116, who crossed it to Lindpere in the penalty area. The striker redirected the ball into the netting
without much effort.
It was hard for the FCD to come back from the deficit despite having numerical advantage in the last 11 minutes.
“They’re a hard team to break down when they are winning,” said Hyndman. “Even though they were down a man, we’re just not experienced enough. We made some really poor decisions under pressure, and that comes through a lot with our youth. It’s not because
of a lack of effort.”
The FCD’s postseason is over with the loss as they were already dumped out of the CONCACAF Champions League after a defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toronto-FC-c40744 at the Pizza Hut Park two weeks ago.
