In yet another outspoken interview, Bordeaux coach, Francis Gillot spoke about his coaching methods and also expressed his displeasure at being forced to come into the media spotlight on a regular basis
Although a ninth place in Ligue 1 standings is not exceptional for a club of their status, FC Girondins de Bordeaux should consider themselves lucky. It remains a minor miracle in terms of a catastrophic start to the campaign when they were mired in the
relegation zone.
Currently, Girondins are 14 points behind 1st placed Montpellier, they managed to keep pace with them on Saturday despite losing the game 1-0. Before that defeat, the Aquitaine side had four wins and a draw in their last five games.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot, who arrived last summer from FC Sochaux Montbéliard, while talking to L’Equipe, spoke about his methods and one thing about football that he does not like.
After flirting with relegation for so long, Bordeaux have made an incredible comeback. However, Gillot does not seem to think on the same lines as he feels that his side should never have put themselves in such a situation at the first place.
“No, because we had a bad run at the start. Draws at Chaban-Delmas should be turned into win.”
Gillot also says that he wants his players to quickly adapt to the 3-5-2 system that has been a revolution for his side since the turn of the new year. The Frenchman understands that players tire quickly in this formation but says that they need to increase
their endurance.
Well known for his outspokenness that stands out in an environment he considers artificial, Gillot has a good image but he really doesn’t care about it.
“Frankly, I give a d**n! It does not interest me to be with media, to have newspaper articles on me. Going to Paris for a show, it annoys me because I lose a day’s work. The medium is so artificial that I do not think I will regret missing it. I have another
life. And won’t wait too long if I want to enjoy it.”
Hopefully, this will be as late as possible because his departure or retirement would certainly be a big loss for football and journalists in journal.
