FC Groningen 2-1 Heracles Almelo, Pieter Huistra delighted with the win – Dutch Eredivisie news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/May-22-c39884. After losing 3-2 in
the first-leg, the Groningen manager, Pieter Huistra, was left utterly disappointed. However, his troops made for the earlier disappointment with a comfortable win at Euroborg Stadion and progressed through to the next round of the play-offs.
Huistra said, “We are all in character well persuaded. Especially, after the red card for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Sparv-c35105.”
The home side started the match with aggressive intent and took the lead inside 30 minutes of play through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petter-Andersson-c29865. Femi made it 2-0 for the home side in the 47th minute. The Green-White-Army were in no mood to hand over their hopes of
playing in Europe’s secondary club competition and outplayed the visitors in every department on the pitch. The Heraclieden’s hopes to make a comeback in the match were squashed, when Sparv received his marching orders in the 76thminute of the match.
Huistra believed that the second yellow card was harsh, but admitted that his side deserved to win the match.
“Both sides did everything to win. It was not clever of Tim, but I thought it was severely punished.” Huistra admitted.
On the other hand, the Heraclieden manager, Peter Bosz, believes that his side staged a poor show at Euroborg Stadion. Bosz admitted that his side missed many opportunities to score and missed chances that cost them a Europa League ticket.
Bosz said, “We should have score more often. We had too many players playing below their level.”
The outfit from Groningen will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221 in a two-legged encounter in the final round of the Europa League play-offs. The first-leg between the two sides will be played at Kyocera Stadion on Thursday, May 26. Huistra would be hoping that his side
emerge victorious in the two-legged encounter and play in Europe’s secondary club competition next season.
