http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 reject PSV Eindhoven’s offer for Tim Matavz – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports from Euroborg Stadion confirm that FC Groningen have turned down PSV Eindhoven’s offer to sign Tim Matavz. The Eindhoven giants have been looking to add a new face to their attack pack since the beginning of the ongoing summer transfer market and
recently targeted the 22-year-old as an ideal addition on the final third of the pitch.
However, it seems like that the Boeren have to set their sights elsewhere, as the Green-White-Army are reluctant to let go of their prized asset.
Hans Nijland, Pride of the North sporting director, admitted that his side received an offer from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281. However, Nijland revealed that his side does not intend to sell their star attacker this summer.
“PSV made a decent offer for Tim, but we have decided not to accept it. There's no financial need to sell him and don't want to let go of him with the transfer window slamming shut shortly. PSV are ready to offer Tim a lucrative long-term deal, but even
though they have behaved correctly, we don't want to sell”, Nijland said while talking to the media.
The promising youngster arrived in Groningen in the summer of 2007 following his impressive stint with ND Goricia. The Slovenian ace has an ongoing contract with the Green-White-Army that runs until the summer of 2013.
Henk van Ginkel, Matavz’s agent, revealed that his client intends to stay at Euroborg Stadion for another season. However, Van Ginkel admitted that he is yet to discuss a contract extension with his client.
“We will make the decision after September 1. The question is whether Tim wants to play football any longer in Groningen. It would not be strange if Tim leaves next summer”, Van Ginkel was quoted as saying to the media.
The Slovenian International was close to joining SSC http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 earlier this year, as the two clubs had reached a 7 million Euros transfer fee agreement. However, the move fell through following the striker’s decision to stay at Pride of the North.
Reports suggest that an offer in the region of 8 million Euros would be enough to lure the striker away from Euroborg Stadion in the ongoing summer transfer market. Should PSV acquire his services before the summer transfer market slams shut, their chances
to win silverware by the end of the campaign would definitely grow brighter.
