FC Groningen’s Tim Matavz closer to joining Serie A outfit SSC Napoli – Dutch Eredivisie News
Reports suggest that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 striker, Tim Matavz, could be on his way out of the Dutch Eredivisie to join SSC Napoli at the end of the season. Matavz has reached personal terms with the Serie A outfit management and seems one-step closer to leave the
Green-White-Army in the summer.
The Green-White-Army sporting director, Hans Nijland, revealed that the prolific striker has reached an agreement with the Azzurri. He said, “Tim Matavz has reached an agreement with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003. It is now up to the clubs to seal the deal. I'm confident that
we'll be able to agree terms though following the latest developments.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Slovenia-c3008 international started his career with his native land club, Gorica, in 2006-07 season. He moved to the Dutch outfit in 2007-08 season. He has scored 27 goals in 72 appearances for his team. Matavz earned his first international cap playing for
Slovenia in 2009. He is also the youngest player to score a hat-trick for Slovenia.
The Eredivisie outfit have reportedly set an eight million Euros price tag on the prolific striker and it remains uncertain that whether the Azzurri would reach an agreement with the Eredivisie outfit or the deal will again go down the drain.
The Serie A outfit made an offer of six million Euros in the winter transfer market, but Groningen's management did not accept it, as they were asking eight million Euros for their asset. The two sides remained in talks for several days, but they were not
able to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
The Pride of the North are currently placed seventh in the league table, much to owe to their prolific striker who is the leading goal scorer for the Green-White-Army this season. Matavz performances this season attracted interest from top European clubs
including Palermo FC, SS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/TSG-1899-Hoffenheim-c40767. However, the Azzuri remained the favourites to capture the striker.
Reports suggest that Andre Carrillo of Allianza Lima could be a possible successor of the 22-year-old striker. Nijland confirmed the reports linking them with the Peruvian striker.
Nijland said, “We are very busy filling in the squad for next season. Carrillo is on our list. He is a serious candidate for replacing Matavz.”
It looks like that the Green-White-Army have already started to look for the perfect replacements for their prolific striker. Nijland has suggested that Carrillo would be a perfect addition to their squad at the end of the season. However, the Green-White-Army
would face serious competition in signing the Peruvian striker from SS Lazio, who have already offered 2.1 million Euros to Allianz Lima management to acquire Carrillo services.
