FC Koln keen to win their next Bundesliga fixture against Schalke- Bundesliga news
FC Koln are keen to win their next Bundesliga fixture against Schalke on the coming weekend. The club look to forget the defeat against Wolfsburg in their opening league fixture of the new season and want to regain the confidence with a win against Die Knappen on the weekend.
Wolfsburg downed home side FC Koln 3-0 in what was a dismal performance by the hosts to gain all three points. The Billy Goats failed to score in the match and were left humbled in front of the home support at RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.
The club manager Stale Solbakken insisted that there were no real mistakes from the players and insisted that the team’s performance was poor. He took responsibility of the defeat and admitted that the players will take some time to adapt to the new tactics and style of play.
“There weren't any individual mistakes, instead the whole team played poorly. There are a lot of new things for them to cope with and it showed in a timid performance,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Rensing-c25366 claimed that the team are on the right path and that the players will surely get used to the tactics soon. He insisted that there will surely be a difference in the performance of the players in the next match and was hopeful for a good outcome.
“Generally I feel like we're on the right path. We're taking the necessary steps forward. The tactical changes are good, but it's clear that we’re not at 100% just yet,” Rensing added.
Meanwhile defender Miso Brecko was furious with the team’s performance in the game and admitted that the team had let the supporters down as there were immense expectations. He added that the fans were looking for a good start to the season and the result was terrible.
“That was horrible. There was a lot of hype surrounding the match, the atmosphere was great and stadium was packed. But we know we can play much better,” he concluded.
FC Koln will travel to Schalke in their second Bundesliga fixture this weekend.
