FC Koln manager Stale Solbakken convinced of Podolski stay- Bundesliga news
FC Koln manager Stale Solbakken has stated that he is convinced that striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 will stay at the club and currently has no intentions of leaving to any other club. He insisted that the German international is a very
important player for the club and his departure would surely be a huge loss. He added that all rumours relating to the player’s exit are untrue and baseless.
Podolski has been in sensational form this season and has scored an impressive nine times in the 11 Bundesliga matches he has taken part in. He is currently the league’s fourth highest goal scorer behind Mario Gomez, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175.
The striker’s future has been subject to speculation in the past few months and reportedly many of the top clubs fighting it hard to acquire the player. According to rumours, the former Bayern Munich player is unhappy at his boyhood
club after Solbakken stripped him off the club’s captaincy earlier in the season. Since then there has been reported interest from Galatasaray, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur.
Solbakken claimed that there is still time for the player’s contract to end and the side will make sure that they end a successful season to give a reason for Podolski to stay. He added that the team cannot afford to lose a player
like Podolski and admitted that all exit talk is mere speculation.
“He still has 18 months to go on his current deal and that is enough time for us to prove to him that we can build a good team and he can be the big match-winner in it, even after these 18 months. The media like to speculate a
lot about Lukas, particularly when he is playing well,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
German national team manager Joachim Low had earlier claimed that Podolski needs to play for a bigger club to get to his full potential.
“For four or five years I have said that it would be better for Lukas to stay in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Today the situation is different. Lukas has become more mature; he is more capable of making the move abroad,” the boss added.
Lukas Podolski’s current contract with the club ends in the summer of 2013.
