If reports are to be believed, the striker sees no future with the club after a dismal start to the current season. The club are bottom of the Bundesliga standings table with one point from three games including two defeats.
Koln’s Sporting Director Volker Finke revealed that he had received calls last week from a broker who had acquired if the player was available for sale. He insisted that the club wants to keep the striker and has no plans whatsoever to sell him this summer.
“I got a call three or four days ago from a broker who wanted to know if Podolski was for sale. The conversation was very brief. I told him that we were keeping him, no ifs or buts,” Finke was quoted as saying in an interview.
The club manager Stake Solbakken insisted that he had talked to the player recently and the German international has reiterated his desire to stay with his boyhood club. He also insisted that there has not been any contact from Galatasaray for a transfer.
“I have spoken on the phone with Luka twice over the weekend and he said nothing about Galatasaray. I get the impression that he will stay. He's not a player for Galatasaray but for a big club,” Solbakken claimed.
Lukas Podolski played a vital role in the club’s tenth place finish in the previous campaign as he scored 14 goals in a total of 34 appearances. The striker also has 90 international caps to his name and has found the net an impressive 42 times.
