According to reports in Lorient, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 International has been in fine form for his club
this season, scoring 15 goals in just 22 Ligue 1 appearances. With the season drawing towards a close, the youngster is increasingly likely to leave at the end of the 2010/11 campaign.
FC Lorient president, Loic Fery, admitted the fact that the player might not be at the club next season and revealed that it’s not just the French clubs who are chasing him.
“A lot of teams are interested in him in France. But there is interest in him from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749. I have also received written offers from various clubs,” said the president.
English Premier League outfit, Newcastle United, is reportedly interested in the striker but they will have to stifle competition from fellow English outfit, Tottenham Hotspur, if they are to take the striker to White Hart Lane. It is believed that the Spurs
manager, Harry Redknapp, rates the youngster very highly, as he has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season. Moreover, a Tottenham scout was present in the Breton derby between Rennes and Lorient to watch Gamiero.
It has been suggested that the London-based club is looking to table an offer in the region of 15 million Euros for the striker. However, the asking price might increase further should other clubs decide to enter the marker for Gamiero’s signature. When
asked about the asking price for the player, Lorient president didn’t comment on it but accepted that the player is likely to leave the club this summer.
Kevin Gamiero was bought from Strasbourg for 3.5 million Euros in the summer of 2008 and since then, the youngster has become a regular fixture in the Les Merlus starting XI. In his short career at the club, Gamiero has scored 43 goals in 94 appearances,
an outstanding statistic for a player who is still very young. Gamiero has been capped three times by the France national team and a move to England may be a good one for the youngster, who is currently the second top scorer in the French Ligue 1.
