FC Nuremberg goalkeeper Raphael Schafer extends contract with the club – Bundesliga news

The club were willing to extend Schafer’s deal at Frankenstadion and convinced him to sign a
new contract for three years.
Nuremberg manager, Dieter Hecking, also expressed delight at the goalkeeper’s stay and hoped that the experienced campaigner could live up to the expectations of the club and help them achieve better results as compared to the last season.
Schafer was pleased to have signed a new contract and vowed to live up to the expectations of the club officials. He felt honoured to know that the club wanted him to guard the goal and wished to earn his side a European spot at the least.
He reckoned that the introduction of new players in the squad would certainly prove to be helpful and urged his teammates to put up a decent fight in order to finish one step ahead compared to the last term, where the club ended sixth on the table.
Nuremberg General Manager, Martin Bader, was also pleased to retain Schafer in the goal and added, "We have signed the contract with Raphael Schafer that we had agreed before. We are happy to have Raphael Schafer at our club and we are delighted he is staying
on."

The goalkeeper joined the Legend in 2008 for his second stint with the club after serving them for six years (2001-2007). He has made a total of 228 Bundesliga appearances for the club so far in his two stints. Schafer has also represented the likes of VfB
