FC Porto's Chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-c9458 insists that Andre Villas-Boas will stay at the club - SuperLiga News
The FC Porto's Chairman Pinto da Costa has insisted that the club’s manager Andre Villas-Boas will not be signing off from his duties at the end of current 2010-11 season. Pinto has been rated highly as a manager and there are speculations that he will be
contacted by some big European clubs as soon as the season ends.
The chairman was talking in the wake of Porto’s 5-1 triumph over the La Liga outfit, Villarreal in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final. The tie took place on Thursday, April 28 at the Estadio do Dragao. Villas-Boas led his side to a remarkable
win and as a result, they already have one foot in the final.
The 33-year-old has already been compared with Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho and there is a belief that some top clubs have their eyes fixed upon this young coach. Former Academica manager though already cleared his stance that he won’t be going anywhere in
spite of too many rumours surrounding him at the moment.
The Serie A giants, Juventus, have been continuously monitoring Boas' progress and are expected to make a move that could bring the coach to Italy.
Da Costa added, "For starters, that is a scenario I do not consider, because he has said that he does not even want to engage in talks. He even said today, when he was told Juventus would come here, that it must have been for them to see him flaunt his suit
with FC Porto's badge on it. He has said countless times he does not want to leave. If he does not want to leave, why should I be worried, if I do not want that either?”
The Chairman believed that the club has performed remarkably well under Boas and hoped that the coach would not even consider switching.
The 33-year-old has already led Porto to the Portuguese League title this season and now they find themselves favourite to contest an all Portuguese final in the Europa League.
