FC Porto coach Vitor Pereira confident of the club's future – Primeira Liga News
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 coach, Vitor Pereira, is confident of the club’s future despite being knocked-out of the UEFA Champions League. The Portistas bowed out of the prestigious European competition but the tactician reiterates that they possess enough quality to succeed in the future.
Portuguese champions, FC Porto, have had a mixed campaign so far. The club were touted to make it big in the UEFA Champions League as well as retaining their Liga Sagres crown this term.
While on the domestic front, they have been performing at decent level and currently lie first in the standings. In Europe, however, they have simply struggled to impose themselves. Their only two victories have come against Shakhtar Donetsk, while the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg and APOEL have cruised past them.
In their last game against Zenit, Porto played quite well and arguably deserved the three points, after dominating proceedings at Estadio do Dragao. However they were unable to penetrate the stern Russian defence and made their exit from the tournament.
While their result has relegated them to the UEFA Europa League, trainer http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitor-c36281 Pereira believes that his side still has a bright future with the quality they possess at the helm.
Speaking to reporters, the coach said that the Dragons had put up a superb display against Zenit and had the right character and determination to succeed in their future endeavors.
"Porto today [game with Zenit] clearly proved its quality. Who has a team with this quality and character must be proud and confident in the future,” he said.
The club’s recent form and exit from the UEFA Champions League has raised concerns over quality of the squad and whether they can match their rivals with the current crop of players.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436, who is definitely the most talented attacker at Porto.
With the transfer window coming up shortly, many expected that the Portuguese outfit would at least dip into the market and hopefully add more star names to their ranks.
However Vitor Pereira has revealed that his side has no such ambitions and even there were any, he did not have any prior knowledge about them.
Speaking to reporters, the 43-year-old said that he was not in-charge of the club’s transfer policy and any questions regarding a spending spree should be diverted towards those who were running the day-to-day business at Porto.
"It is a question that does not concern me. You should ask the administration about this and not to me, “Vitor Pereira was quoted as saying.
With FC Porto’s lack of quality players being exposed brutally in the UEFA Champions League and the club refusing to divulge in the transfer market to cure the problem, the future for the Azuis e Brancos looks ominous.
