FC Porto coach Vitor Pereira has claimed that his side did not deserve to draw their game against Benfica and has said that they approached the match with aim of securing three points.
The Portistas hosted their bitter rivals, Benfica, at Estadio do Dragao in the most awaited clash of the season so far yesterday.
What unfolded during the ninety minutes was a treat to watch, as four goals were scored and dazzling skills were on display.
Porto forward Kleber opened the scoring for the home side in the first half but luckily for the Eagles, Oscar Cardozo took his tally to seven and took the game back to square one after the break.
A simple tap-in by Nicolas Otamendi was expected to secure all three points for the Dragao; however, their party was spoiled by a late effort from Nicolas Gaitan.

The ensuing draw meant that both the teams shared the spoils and stayed level on points in the Primeira Liga standings, but Porto boss Vitor Pereira claims that his players deserved the sweet taste of victory.
Speaking to reporters, the tactician said that his side did everything in their power to win the game but Benfica were determined to hold them to a draw. He also claimed that they now have to work even harder and take their revenge at the Stadium of Light.
"We did everything to win, but it was not possible. Benfica sought one point and we clearly lost two points. We have to continue working and believe it will be possible to visit the Estadio da Luz and win,” he said.
Pereira also said that he had instructed his players to push for a win from the start but the Reds soaked up the pressure and were determined to grind out a result.
"Our approach to the game was clearly to win, while Benfica's approach was to hold the game and search for our mistake,” the Dragons trainer was quoted as saying.
FC Porto now face Zenit St Petersburg in the UEFA Champions League on September 28.
