FC Porto confirm the signing of Danilo from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c40446 – Portuguese Primeira Liga Update
Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, have completed the signing of wingback Danilo from Brazilian outfit, Santos. The Dragoes reportedly paid a hefty €13 million for the youngster’s services, beating off stiff competition from archrivals Benfica.
The Brazilian U-20 star was linked with a move to the Italian Serie A with Juventus and AC Milan all looking to bolster their ranks with his talents.
The transfer was officially announced when the Dragons issues a statement to the Portuguese stock market.
“Porto comes to inform that it has reached an agreement with Santos for the acquisition of the sporting rights of athlete Danilo Luiz da Silva. This agreement sees the payment of a fee of €13 million."
Danilo was originally thought to be on his way to Benfica with the Eagles eyeing him as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Coentrao, who recently left the club to join Real Madrid. The 20-year-old had impressed the Reds with his scintillating performances from the
left-back position and was touted as the next big star of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joan-Capdevila-c18631, paving the way for Porto to make their bid.
The Portistas won a quadruple last season and had galaxy of stars at their disposal. However, since the transfer window has opened, many of their players have been linked with transfers away from the club. Thus, in order secure future successes, the Dragao
have invested in young prospects.
The Portuguese outfit are already contemplating the sale of their current left-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491 Săpunaru, in order to award Danilo with more game time.
The Romanian is currently valued at €25 million but Porto are willing to accept proposals below their valuation. Interest from several sides from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romania-c2990 has been reported as these sides look for an experienced defender with a modest price tag.
Although supremely talented, Danilo is yet to ply his trade at the highest level and could be a risky investment for the Estadio do Dragao officials.
