FC Porto’s star defender, Rolando, is reportedly being eyed by Italian giants Juventus, who are also known to be tracking his International compatriot, Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299, of Manchester United.
Juventus ended the 2010/2011 season with a woeful 7th place finish but are keen to return to the top of the Serie A once more. The Turin outfit have been looking to secure quality players to bolster their ranks and been linked with Rolando since
the beginning of the transfer window.
The Portuguese International has been wanted by many European teams following his impressive performances in the last campaign. Rolando was the hub of the Portista side that won the quadruple under Andre Villas-Boas last season and has garnered ravenous
reviews for his no-nonsense defending and tough-tacking.
However, the centre-back has not been limited to doing his bit at the back and has used his massive 6-ft-2 inch frame to score crucial goals for the Dragons. The former Beleneses’s man’s value has soared even further as he netted a brace in the Portuguese
Super Cup clash against Vitoria Guimaraes to win the match for his side.
With a resume that also boasts several caps for the Selecao national team, many clubs have been touted with a move for the 25-year-old but it is understood that Juventus are the ones leading the race to sign the highly-rated defender.
While their interest has been confirmed, it is not certain what amount La Vecchia Signora are willing to cough up in order to land Rolando, who’s price tag is rumoured to be in the region of €15 million.
Although Juve are eager to purchase the Dragao star, his agent, Peppino Tirri, has made no secret of his client’s wish to play for their Serie counter parts, AS Roma.
"He would be keen to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 if his conditions were met. We will soon discover what the future holds: whoever wants him will have to come up with an offer in the region of €15 million," Tirri was quoted as saying.
Though Rolando’s wishes to join the Romans, the club have recently signed Bojan from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and could have well exhausted the transfer funds for the summer, leaving Juventus to close in on the defender.
