Portuguese giants FC Porto have reportedly failed to secure a loan-deal for Racing Club defender Matias Martinez.
The Portistas have been struggling this season and despite the firepower at the helm, have been unable to maintain their form. Benfica lead the Primeira Liga standings and although http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitor-c36281 Pereira’s men are close behind, their arch-rivals have proved to be
a much more cohesive unit than them.
Injuries have cost FC Porto as well and according to reports, they will be forced to sell some of their star players, as the club do not have the necessary finances to pay off their debts. The Dragons acquired http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danilo-c10159 for a whopping €17.8 million but have
been unable to deliver the cash payments to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c40446 for the transfer.
Although they have temporarily solved the problem by loaning out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-Fucile-c19163 to the Brazilian club, they will still need to come up with the money in order to get them off their back. It is reported that the side may sell centre-back Rolando in order to
raise the cash but the departure of the Seleccao International could leave a gaping hole in the back-line.
In order to maintain their title-challenge, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 have made a loan-bid for Matias Martinez, who plays for Racing Club in Argentina. Although not an International for the Sky Blue, the player has shown quality in abundance while playing in the Clausura
and Apertura tournaments.
He scored an impressive tally of 4 goals in 15 appearances in 2009, which has only heightened the Portuguese outfit’s interest in him. An opportunity to play in Europe was something that players do not get everyday but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-Club-c40301 refused to let their prized
asset leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841, even on a temporary basis.
Porto reportedly asked the Academy to let the 23-year-old ply his trade at Estadio do Dragao till the end of the season, as a cover for the Nicolas Otamendi and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 refused and did not cave into the demands of the Azuis e Brancos.
With a move ruled out for Matias http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 and the club still lagging behind in their payments, FC Porto are stuck in a dire situation and it remains to be seen how they get out of this one.
