FC Porto manager Vitor Pereira has claimed that although his side are to take on their fierce rivals Benfica next week, he will still not rest any players for this weekend’s Primeira Liga clash with Feirense.
The Portistas are due to take on Feirense at Estádio Marcolino de Castro on Sunday, where they will be looking to secure nothing other than three points to cement their place on top of the table.
Porto took on Shakhtar Donetsk in their mid-week UEFA Champions League clash and despite a nervy start they eventually cruised to victory following a rocket free-kick from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 and a goal-poacher’s finish from Kleber.
The players are already tired following their exertions and absence of key stars such as Hulk and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Pereira-c5297 has limited the options available to the Porto coach. The tactician claims that he will not rest any member of his team, despite the derby with
Benfica looming large.
Speaking to the reporters, Pereira, said that he was expecting a tough game away from home, as the hosts were an organized side; good on the counter-attack and could inflict serious damage with their pace.
"I expect a tough game. The Feirense has done a good league and still on top in a borrowed house. It is a well-organized team, which explores the bids and counter-attack. We will have to overcome the difficulties that will put the opponent and win the game,”
he said.
The trainer also revealed that while this weekend’s encounter was a prelude of what was to come next week at Estadio do Dragao, he was not taking Feirense lightly and was aiming for nothing less than maximum points.
"It is a game that precedes the match against Benfica, but for me it's important to win regardless of the opponent that follows. We always consider the following games and back. Our plan is always done with the component physical, emotional and motivational."
Lastly Pereira commented on this year’s title race and said that while the Dragons were able to crush all their opponents to win the league, it’s something that happens rarely and this season it was going to be much harder than before with the likes of Benfica
and Sporting Lisbon all strengthening over the summer.
While Vitor Pereira and his men will be looking to continue their great start to the season, they face a stern test of their abilities against Feirense, who have already gained 7th position in the rankings and are looking quite strong in the opening
fixtures despite just being promoted from Liga da Honra.
