FC Porto refuse to sell Alvaro Pereira to Chelsea unless release clause is met
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Pereira-c5297 leave unless his release clause was met. The 25-year-old wingback has emerged as a target for English Premier League giants Chelsea over the
last week, something which the Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas admitted to in a press conference.
After successfully signing 23-year-old winger Juan Mata from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863, Villas-Boas is looking to add further reinforcements before the summer window closes down. The Portuguese manager has identified players who can add width and depth to the existing squad,
and Pereira seems like the perfect candidate.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have reportedly offered £15million for Pereira, a price that is not acceptable to the Portuguese giants. The Porto president admitted that while the Blues had made an offer, he had turned it down because he did not feel it was adequate. He revealed
the player’s release clause was worth €30 million and that he was not available for anything less.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pinto-c30032 da Costa said while speaking to reporters:
“Chelsea made us an offer for Pereira, but it took just 30 seconds to turn it down.
Every player who has an escape clause in his contract can leave if somebody makes us an offer that matches that fee.
But for Pereira, that escape clause is €30 million.”
Villas-Boas, who was previously in charge of FC Porto, is aware of the talent the Uruguayan wingback possesses. With just a few days remaining in the transfer window, the Blues could make an improved offer, this time to meet the release clause. However,
it is believed if the Blues acquire Modric they could give up on Pereira.
The London side have so far made three bids for the Croatian midfielder, all three of which have been rejected by Tottenham Hotspur. However, the player has refused to play for the Spurs in both the Premier League and the Europa League, suggesting the move
could take place after all. Chelsea are currently trying for both Modric and Pereira, with the latter being a more versatile player.
