Da Costa recently said that although every member of his squad was replaceable, there was no replacement for Hulk and claimed that he would not exchange the striker even for the services of Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It may sound like a heresy, but I would not trade Hulk for Cristiano Ronaldo. This is my opinion, perhaps the coach will say different,” said the Dragao supremo.

“I feel very happy when we receive a compliment from a person as our president, someone known worldwide. Always has been very supportive and have him as a father,” said the attacker.
The Brazilian International attracted attention from nearly every club in Europe with his goalscoring feats last season and had been touted with a move to the likes of Manchester City this summer.
Scoring a tally of 36 goals during the quadruple winning 2010/2011 campaign, many had thought that the 25-year-old would switch allegiances in the transfer window. However, Hulk has waived any speculation linking him with a move away from Estadio do Dragao.

Although supremely talented and wanted by many sides, Hulk was unlikely to be a subject of a transfer given his exorbitant price tag, which is reportedly in the region of €100 million.
While big spending clubs like Manchester City could possibly match the transfer fee, given that Hulk himself was not keen on a switch and his ‘father’ Pinto da Costa did not want to sell, a sale was never going to happen in the first place.
