FC Porto star Hulk wants to continue his goalscoring form and is looking forward to the UEFA Super Cup clash, set for August 26, against European champions Barcelona.
The Portistas started the defence of their crown with a win over Vitoria Guimarães in a closely contested match. However, the spotlight was not on the team rather on Radamel Falcao, who was being courted by Atletico Madrid at the time.
Falcao, 25, was one of the main reasons why the trophy cabinet at Estadio do Dragao is bursting with a quadruple of trophies, and had gained the attention of the cream of Europe following a stellar season.
Finding the back of the net 38 times in a magical campaign for the Dragons, the Colombian had been on the radar of clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid. But he chose to sign for Atletico Madrid.
As his future was being negotiated, the forward was left out of the squad that travelled to Guimarães and a result, all the pressure of performing was on his striker-partner, Hulk.
The Brazilian had not been shy of scoring himself in the previous season but acting as a replacement to Falcao was an all-together different task.
In a nervy game, Porto eventually bagged all three points as Hulk slotted home the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. He continued his good start to the season and shined during his side’s match with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 by scoring a brace.
The former Tokyo Verdy man proved during the match that he was a worthy candidate to fill the boots of Falcao, with a well taken penalty and a second half strike.
Although players might savour their victories, Hulk was keen to move on and was looking towards their biggest test of their credentials, in which they face current European and Spanish champions, Barcelona.
Speaking to the reporters, the Selecao International revealed that although he was happy to get on the score sheet, he was not focusing on the task of defeating the mighty Catalans.
"I am very happy for my goals and we won the game. Now, we must start now to think the game against Barcelona. Then I have time to think about the Brazilian team.”
The 25-year-old also commented that while he was pleased to see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 achieve his dream of playing for a bigger side, the responsibility of replacing was on the whole team and that he would do his utmost best to continue playing at a high level.
“The responsibility is for all players, but I'm glad for Falcao.
I will continue to do my http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, I will continue to work and respect the choices of the coaches," the Brazilian International was quoted as saying.
While he remains one of the most feared players in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, it is still unclear whether Hulk can live up to his potential and curb the loss of Radamel Falcao in the upcoming season.
