Young French defender Eliaquim Mangala has certainly built his reputation beyond borders in recent months. The 20-year-old defender is currently under the books of Portuguese giants FC Porto where he has seen considerable amount of action this season.
The defender who moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 Under-21 side and is attracting a lot of interest from European clubs. After leaving France 15 years ago, the youngster could be poised to a return to the country
where he was born.
Reports in French media suggest that the talented defender is now attracting interest from Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain.
The youngster is currently regarded as one of the most promising French defenders in Europe along with Raphael Varane of Real Madrid who left http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RC-Lens-c40322 for the Spanish giants in the recent summer transfer window.
However both players are a lot different from eachother according to France Under-21 coach Erick Mombaerts.
“We know. They play in two major clubs. Mangala is important to Porto and always performs well whenever given the chance. They are both very young when you think that Raphael is 18-years-old. These are two exceptional boys.”
Solid in his interventions and blessed with great passing skills, the youngster can play either as a centre-back or as a defensive midfielder which is certainly a great plus for him.
With so much interest in his services, the youngster has not ruled out a possibility of making a return to France. Rumour has it that Olympique Lyonnais did try signing the youngster but the defender says that he would prefer Paris Saint-Germain.
“I went to Porto last summer. This is one of the best clubs in Europe. I think it can be a good springboard. It would have pleased me to come to Ligue 1 if there had been an offer. I may come later. I had no personal contact but I know that Lyon came with
a standard envelope,” said the 20-year-old while talking to RMC.
Since joining FC Porto from Standard Liege this summer, the youngster has made a great impact whenever he has appeared in Porto colours. However, a move away from the Portuguese giants seems to be unlikely for now as the Dragons would be keen to hold on
to another talented player who has the makings of a real star of the future.
