FC Porto’s boss Andre Villas-Boas hails his team on thumping Villarreal - UEFA Europa League News
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186’s boss Andre Villas-Boas has hailed his team after they recorded a thumping 5-1 win over Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League semi-final. Both teams contested in the first leg of the tie on Thursday, April 28 at the Estadio do Dragao.
Boas was all praise for his outfit, who were extremely outstanding throughout and showed their true colours only in the last 45 minutes of the match. FC Porto were trailing by a goal to nil at half-time, but came out with some extraordinary venom in the
second half and thumped five goals past Diego Lopez.
The 33-year-old Boas was extremely delighted at his team’s five-star display and mentioned that they never felt any pressure despite of going a goal down in the latter stages of the first half. The coach was very much impressed with the remarkable display
of his striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 who went absolutely berserk after scoring the equaliser in the 49th minute from the spot. Falcao then completed his hat-trick and finished with four goals on the night out of Porto’s five.
Alongside Falcao, Boas applauded the whole team who literally took the Yellow Submarine by surprise and in the end dashed all their hopes of making it to the finals.
Boas added, “It was a good first step toward the final,” enthused the 33-year-old after the match, according to
Uefa.com. “Scoring 15 goals in three games is down to the talent of the players. Falcao is fabulous, just like others in the team, but even though he's a fantastic goalscorer I have to underline the performances of all the group."
Boas mentioned that there is no need for his team to aim high as there is yet another leg to be played before the final arrives. He urged his team to maintain their composure and focus ahead of the second leg as anything could happen in the game of football.
Porto’s midfielder Fredy Guarin also praised his team’s display and concluded the talks by saying, "The way we turned the tie around after going behind was great. It was down to the efforts of the whole team."
