FC Schalke 04 manager denies Raul link with English Premier League side Blackburn Rovers
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Schalke-04-c39204 manager, revealed there had been no offers or enquiries for star striker Raul after there were rumours linking the Spaniard with a move to English Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.
According to Rangnick, Raul was very happy with the Bundesliga outfit and had no plans of leaving the club anytime soon. The Schalke manager insisted he would consider the 34-year-old part ways with the club if he felt the player was unhappy.
Raul currently had one year remaining on his contract with Schalke, and as things stands, looks to end his current deal before moving on. Despite being 34, the former Spain international is an important part of the team.
Rangnick said while speaking to reporters:
“In terms of Raul it is the same as it is with all of the players of my squad. If he comes up saying he wants to move on we'll look into things.
So far he hasn't said anything to me and we've not received any enquiries from any club.”
He continued:
“I have been speaking to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 over the past months every now and then and he has said everything is fine.
Raul is definitely an important player for our team, although there are eleven players on the pitch.”
Raul began his senior career with the Real Madrid C team, moving up to Real Madrid B before eventually making his debut for the Real Madrid first team in 1994. He stayed with the La Liga giants until 2010, after which he transferred to Schalke 04.
During his time at Madrid, Raul made an impressive 741 appearances in all competitions and managed to score 323 goals. He holds various records with the club, including Record Goal-scorer, Record Appearance Maker and UEFA Champions League Record Goal-scorer
among many others.
Even though Schalke are looking to retain his services for the 2011-2012 season, they have not offered Raul a contract extension. This could urge the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 striker to look for a move abroad, with the English Premier League his most likely destination.
After their disappointing defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening day of the new Premier League season, Blackburn Rovers are looking to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window, with the two weeks remaining for them to make any signings.
The Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 manager Steve Kean has urged the owner to spend money and offer lucrative deals to potential players to attract them to the club. The club has reportedly made some offers, but no deal has been agreed upon as yet.
Kean could use an experienced striker like Raul in his squad, even though he will be well aware that it will only be a short term solution. However, it could be enough to see the club through until January or the end of the season if they’re lucky.
