With only six points left to play, FC Twente Enschede, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AFC-Ajax-c38228 Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven are the three contenders for the Dutch Eredivisie title this season.
Throughout the entire season, it seemed like that only two teams would be the only contenders for becoming Dutch champions at the end of the season, as both Twente and PSV demonstrated supreme performances this term. However, four wins in a row mixed with
some poor show from PSV and Twente in the recent weeks have boosted Ajax as one of the favourites to emerge as the Dutch Champions.
Let us take a look at all the possibilities that can happen in the race for the Eredivisie title in the remaining weeks of the Eredivisie 2010-11 campaign.
FC Twente Enschede
The Tukkers are currently leading the league table, but only a solitary point separates them from the second-placed Ajax. Michel Preud’homme, the Tukkers’ manager, is confident that his side will defend their title successfully.
The reigning Eredivisie champions will clash against the relegation contenders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Willem-II-c40945 Tilburg at the De Grolsch Veste on Sunday, May 1. After hosting the relegation contenders, Preud’homme’s men will travel to Amsterdam to face De Joden at the Amsterdam
Arena on Sunday, May 15. The Tukkers will have to win both of their matches if they want to accomplish the preset objectives.
The Tukkers have acquired 68 points from 32 matches so far this season. If Preud’homme’s men manage to secure all three points in their remaining two fixtures, they will end up as the Eredivisie winners for sure with 74 points.
If the Reds manage to win their upcoming match against the relegation contenders and their encounter with the Amsterdammers end in a stalemate, then the Reds will be acquiring 72 points at the end of the season and they still would be lifting the Eredivisie
title.
It means that the reigning Eredivisie champions need to secure at least four points if they want to defend their title successfully. However, if they lose any of their two fixtures, the Eredivisie title could be out of their sight with De Joden or PSV becoming
eventual winners.
AFC Ajax Amsterdam
Last week, it seemed like that PSV would be lifting the Eredivisie title this season. However, it is now a completely different scenario as Ajax are looking one of the favourites to win the league, thanks to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam who defeated PSV last week.
De Joden are currently placed second in the league table, trailing the league leaders Twente by a lone point. Frank de Boer, Ajax’s manager, is looking confident to become the Dutch champions. However, Boer knows that it will not be an easy task to achieve,
as the defending Eredivisie champions will not give up without a fight.
The Eredivisie giants will play their upcoming match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Heerenveen-c40463 at the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Sunday, May 1. After travelling to Heerenveen, Boer’s men will take on the league leaders at the Amsterdam Arena on the final day of the season. It seems
like Boer’s troops have a good opportunity to capture their 30th Eredivisie title this season.
