FC Twente Enschede’s Theo Janssen pens down two-year contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AFC-Ajax-c38228 – Eredivisie news
Reports from Amsterdam Arena confirm that FC Twente Enschede midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Janssen-c34871, has successfully signed a contract with newly crowned Dutch champions, Ajax Amsterdam, that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2013.
The 29-year-old midfielder has shown great respect for the Tukkers and believes that the outfit from Enschede would be competing for the title again next season.
Janssen said, “FC Twente is a top club. I think they will be back next year again at the top stand.”
The Dutch International has performed brilliantly throughout the 2010/11 season, becoming one of the reasons for the Tukkers to achieve success. However, the 29-year-old midfielder was utterly disappointed when his side handed the Eredivisie title to the
Amsterdammers on the final day of the season after losing 3-1 at Amsterdam Arena on May 15.
When quizzed as to why he was leaving the club, he said, “Because I want to be a champion.”
The 29-year-old midfielder successfully passed a medical examination last Saturday at Ajax. Reports suggest that the Amsterdammers have paid 3.2 million Euros to the Tukkers for the acquisition. However, it is unclear when the player would be presented to
the fans.
Janssen’s inclusion in Ajax would certainly enhance their options in the centre of the pitch. The 29-year-old midfielder would play his first official match for the Amsterdammers against his former employers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233.
Meanwhile, the outfit from Enschede have reportedly shown their interest in FC Utrecht’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Strootman-c20775. The Tukkers management see the 21-year-old midfielder as an ideal replacement for the departing Janssen.
The 21-year-old midfielder is a product of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sparta-Rotterdam-c40567 youth academy. He started his professional football career in 2008/09 season at Het Kesteel and made 72 appearances for his side before moving to the outfit from Utrecht earlier this year.
He has performed impressively for the Utreg this year and has attracted interest from English Premier League outfit, Fulham FC, who are taking keen interest in taking his signature in the upcoming summer transfer market. Reports suggest that an offer in
the region of five million Euros could be enough to lure the young midfielder away from the outfit from Utrecht.
