FC Twente: No deal with Benfica for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bryan-Ruiz-c8180 - Portuguese Primeira Liga news
Dutch Eredivisie runner-ups have denied reports that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-c9458 Rican International will be playing at Estadio da Luz next season.
"We cannot confirm a move. To our knowledge, there has been no agreement," said a Twente Source.
The 25-year-old has been one of Twente’s star performers this season, and his domination on the field has caught the eye of the Eagles, who are looking to bolster their squad for next season and with a number of players exiting the Lisbon-based club, several
spots have opened and one of them could be filled by the attacking midfielder.
The Selección International started his career in the youth ranks of Alajuelense and later moved up the pecking order, forming a lethal partnership with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rolando-Fonseca-c31587 and Froylan Ledezma, and led the team to victories in the 2004/05 National Championship,
UNCAF Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup. It was here that he established his reputation as a midfield maestro and earned the nick name “la comadreja" (the weasel).
His talents were too good for Alajuelense and he signed for Gent in the summer of 2006 alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314 and top goalscorer for The Buffalos.
His match winning antics were being monitored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 and the Dutch club were the ones who ultimately landed the playmaker on a 4-year deal worth €5m. At FC Twente, the Weasel scored a staggering 50 goals in 57 appearances, leading the club to their
first ever Eredivisie title.
His goalscoring feats at the highest level have raised eyebrows in Europe’s’ Elite and Benfica are the supposed frontrunners in the race to land the highly rated star. However, the Tukkers have refused to do business with the Portuguese giants and are determined
to hold onto their charismatic forward, but the Eagles’ lucrative offer worth €7 million, coupled with the €100,000 in monthly wages might prove an offer too tempting both parties.
With the promise of European Football at Estadio da Luz and a chance to impress the world’s top clubs, it’s not hard to imagine Ruiz playing in the Benfica colours next season.
