The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager has reached an agreement with the Enschede giants over a contract that runs until the summer of 2014.
Reports from De Grolsch Veste confirm that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede have appointed Steve McClaren as their new head coach. The Former England manager has reportedly put pen to a deal that will keep him at De Grolsch Veste until the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
The Tukkers were in the market in search of a new trainer after the club management parted ways with their former boss, Co Adriaanse, earlier this week. Although there were few names in serious consideration for the vacant http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, the Tukkers management decided
to bring the 50-year-old Englishman back to Enschede.
McClaren guided the Tukkers to their first ever Eredivisie title in the 2009/10 season, before leaving to take charge of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 in the summer of 2010. However, the vastly experienced tactician was sacked less than a year later.
The Englishman then joined Nottingham Forest at the start of 2011/12 campaign, but resigned in October 2011 following his side’s poor performances in the npower Championship, English football's second tier.
After signing with his former club, where the 50-year-old had successful stint, the Englishman revealed that he left the club with intention of coming back in the future.
“I left, obviously, on a high with the title. I said at that time that I would be back. I didn't know when, but I would be back. The club is still developing, still growing and I think this is an ideal opportunity for me to go back and finish what we were
starting”, McClaren said while talking to the media.
The 50-year-old then went on to reveal that he knows everyone at the club and he will not face difficulties in adjusting at De Grolsch Veste.
“I know the club very well. I know the people at the top. I can work with the people at the top. I think that is the most important thing. I had a good relationship with them the last time. I know what their vision is. I know what their ambitions are. It
is still there”, McClaren concluded.
