FC Twente boss Co Adriaanse admits his side lacked creativity against Vitesse – Eredivisie news
Vitesse Arnhem staged an impressive show against FC Twente Enschede to record a goalless draw at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday, November 27. Co Adriaanse, the Tukkers head coach, admitted that his side lacked creativity to make a difference against Vitesse.
The outfit from Arnhem started the match with a defensive frame of mind and their game clearly showed that they would be happy to secure a point.
The home side created their first real goal-scoring opportunity when Nacer Chadli’s free-kick found http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956 in the box. However, the attacker headed wide of the target and the chance went begging.
Moments before the half-time break, Chadli beat three Vitesse defenders before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Piet-Velthuizen-c30016.
After the break, Chadli was again involved in the Tukkers’ attack when De Jong’s pass found him in the box. However, Vitesse goalkeeper made a brilliant save to keep the deadlock intact.
In the closing stages of the match, both sides created plenty of chances. However, both sides failed to hit the target and in the end they had to settle for a goalless draw.
Adriaanse expressed his discontent following his side’s 0-0 draw and admitted that his troops lacked creativity upfront.
“We missed brilliance. We needed just a little bit of extra effort, a good cross or an impressive counter attack. Bryan Ruiz had that, but he does not play here anymore. Nacer Chadli can certainly play like that, but he is not in his best of form”, Adriaanse
said while talking to the journalists.
The vastly experienced trainer then went on to reveal that his side did everything to bag all three points in front of their home crowd, but it was not their night.
“I cannot blame my players for anything. They did everything to win, but it did not work. However, I believe that we did not really create many chances. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 played brilliantly in the final stage of the match, but all in all, we missed two crucial points”,
Adriaanse concluded.
