Since the 6-2 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven, McClaren's men have lost three games in a row and the tactician expects a different result in the upcoming tie against De Graafschap.
The Tukkers received a 3-1 hammering from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam at home on March 18, raising many
a eyebrow in Enschede.
Nonetheless, the Tukkers head coach, Steve McClaren, has expressed optimism ahead of his side’s upcoming clash against De Graafschap at Vijverberg Stadion on Wednesday, March 21.
“We are positive about achieving a good result. Nobody wants a bad series, but we know that such things happen in football. With nine games to go, we have a bright chance of becoming champions. We will do our work, and will try not to get panic”, McClaren
was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
Despite consecutive defeats in their last Eredivisie encounters, the Tukkers are currently sitting fourth in the league table. They are five points behind the league leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar, with a game in hand.
McClaren’s side has a good chance of trimming down the gap at the summit of the table to just a single point, should they manage to bag all three points against the Superboeren.
However, the English trainer has admitted that it will not be an easy task, as the outfit from Graafschap plays impressive football at home.
“An away match against Graafschap is always difficult. We must perform at our best. We will have to remain patient, wait for the goalscoring opportunities and capitalise on our chances. We know that we will not get many chances, as Graafschap will sit deep
inside their own half and put pressure on us only on counter attacks”, McClaren concluded.
The Superboeren are having a poor season, sitting at the bottom of the table, a mammoth 12 points adrift of the safety zone.
