The Tukkers claimed a crushing 4-1 win over FC Groningen at home, and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager was extremely delighted by commencing the new Eredivisie season with a commanding victory.
FC Twente Enschede head coach, Steve McClaren, was pleased with his side crushing 4-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday, August 12.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 boss revealed that his side’s Europa League fixtures before the new Eredivisie season helped his side a lot.
“We already have played six European games, games that we had to win. This has helped my players a lot, and they were ready for this clash”, McClaren was quoted as saying to the media.
The English trainer, who started his professional coaching career in the 2001/02 season when he took the reins of Middlesbrough, went on to praise all of his players, and revealed that everyone was fully focused throughout the 90 minutes.
“Our players were focused and controlled the game. It was nice to see that we played good dominant football, apart from the goal we conceded”, McClaren concluded.
The Tukkers started the match aggressively at home, but they failed to break the deadlock in the opening half-hour action. Dusan Tadic played a neat pass to Nacer Chadli, and the Belgian ace made no mistake in hitting the top right corner of the net in the
30th minute.
Three minutes later, the home side doubled their lead when Tadic added his name to the score-sheet. The Tukkers continued to dominate proceedings, but failed to score further in the opening 45 minutes.
After the half-time break, the hosts resumed action in the same manner, and continued to enjoy lion’s share of ball possession. Chadli scored his second of the evening in the 53rd minute while Tadic took the game beyond the reach of Groningen
by finding the target yet again in the 71st minute.
