The Tukkers put in a convincing performance at home to claim a 3-0 win against Gertjan Verbeek’s side, and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager was pleased with his troops’ dominating display on the field.
FC Twente Enschede head coach, Steve McClaren, was all praise for his side’s scintillating show against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday, October 7. The Tukkers cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over nine-man Alkmaar outfit.
The former England boss was obviously delighted with his side’s victory, and admitted that his troops put in a fine performance after a tough week. The Enschede giants suffered a hard fought 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ajax Amsterdam last week, before recording
a 2-2 draw in their UEFA Europa League game against Helsingborg on October 4.
“After a tough week, today we recovered well. I thought we were strong defensively and we got a great goal by Nacer Chadli to take the lead”, McClaren was quoted as saying to the media.
The home side started the game brightly, and grabbed the lead in the 20th minute, thanks to an impressive strike by Nacer Chadli.
After conceding the goal, Gertjan Verbeek’s side played a bit better, but they failed to create any goalscoring opportunity of note until the half-time break.
Adam Maher and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jozy-Altidore-c19634 received their marching orders within seven minutes of action in the second-half. The Enschede giants took full advantage of their numerical superiority, and Dusan Tadic doubled his side’s advantage at the hour-mark, when he
coolly converted a spot-kick. Two minutes later, Luc Castaignos’ strike sealed an impressive 3-0 win in favour of the home side.
McClaren admitted that his side was completely in control after Maher and Altidore received their marching orders, while the English trainer also expressed his delight with Castaignos adding his name to the score-sheet.
“After the break, the match tilted in our favour. I was also pleased with the goal from Castaignos, he works hard every game and deserved this goal”, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 boss concluded.
