The English Premier League outfit is taking keen interest in signing the Brazilian-born Dutch stopper this summer, as the Magpies looks set to participate in Europa League next term.

The 24-year-old has been performing consistently for the Tukkers in the last couple of seasons. The central defender’s impressive showings have not gone unnoticed, with Newcastle United being the latest to express keen interest in acquiring his signature
in the upcoming summer transfer window.

“It’s not a case of if Douglas wants to play in the Premier League – it’s simply when. He’s told the manager he wants to go. Steve McClaren also has a new defender lined up to replace him in the summer and appreciates that Douglas wants to move on”.
The 24-year-old, who has been plying his trade at De Grolsch Veste since the summer of 2007, has thus represented the Tukkers in well over 100 matches, netting nine goals along the way.
Newcastle are currently occupying the sixth spot in the English Premier League table, and looking confident to play in Europe’s second tier competition next season.
