The Brazilian-born Dutch stopper has expressed his delight at his inclusion in the Louis van Gaal’s Oranje squad for 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Romania.

The Brazilian-born Dutch stopper has been performing consistently for the past couple of seasons, and his good showings at the back have now been awarded, as the Oranje head coach, Louis van Gaal, has included the 24-year-old in his 20-man squad.
After hearing about his inclusion, the highly-rated central defender was unable to hide his happiness, and revealed that he worked extremely hard to earn Dutch citizenship.

The 24-year-old, who has been plying his trade at De Grolsch Veste since the summer of 2007, went on to reveal that he always dreamt about representing the Flying Dutchmen, and insisted that he will continue working hard to cement his place in the squad.
“My goal was always to be called up by the Oranje. Now I have to make sure that I stay here for a long time. I must do this by continuing to work hard, especially in the coming days. I will do everything to show that I deserve a place in the squad”, Douglas

The Flying Dutchmen will take on Andorra in their upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifier at De Kuip Stadion, before taking on Romania at Arena Nationala four days later.
Louis van Gaal, who took the reins of Netherlands earlier this summer, would be hoping that his side maintain their 100 percent winning record.
