FC Twente deny Bryan Ruiz talks with Tottenham Hotspur, as Spurs look to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857
Dutch side FC Twente insisted they had not heard from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur regarding Bryan Ruiz, the 25-year-old winger. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-Rica-c2877 international has been linked with a move to the London side, but according to his current side
there has been no offer from the Spurs as yet.
The player himself previously claimed that his agents had been in talks with the Premier League outfit and that a move to White Hart Lane was inevitable. According to Ruiz there was a high possibility of the move being completed in the upcoming days.
However, FC Twente have denied the players statement. The club chairman Joop Munsterman revealed the Spurs had yet to contact them regarding the player. With negotiations not having taken place as yet, it could be a while before Ruiz is allowed to leave
for the Premier League.
The FC Twente chairman said in an interview:
“We still have heard nothing from Tottenham themselves.
However, we have heard from his representative that there is some interest.
This week we will once again make contact over a deal.”
Ruiz signed with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 in the summer of 2009 for a fee of €5 million from Gent on a four year deal. He got off to a brilliant debut with the Eredivisie side, scoring in his first match. He has made 61 appearances in the league and has scored an impressive
33 goals.
The versatile winger is known for his pace, heading and accurate passing. It has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is considering Ruiz as a possible replacement for Luka Modric, whose future still remains uncertain.
The 25-year-old Croatian has been linked with a move to London rivals Chelsea since the beginning of the summer transfer window. Even after expressing his desire to move to Stamford Bridge, Modric has not been allowed to do so.
Tottenham Hotspur chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy and manager Harry Redknapp are determined to keep the midfielder at White Hart Lane, for fear of not finding a suitable replacement. However, after the player handed in a transfer request they have begun looking at
possible replacements.
Having already rejected two bids by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Tottenham Hotspur could accept the improved third bid. It is thought to be an estimated £30 million. If Modric does leave White Hart Lane, Tottenham will need to bring in another versatile player to replace him.
