http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikolay-Mihaylov-c28019, the 22-year-old Bulgarian goal keeper, revealed Liverpool goal keeper Pepe Reina was desperate for an Anfield exit. Mihaylov signed for Liverpool in the 2007 season from Levski Sofia but due to lack of first team football he transferred
to FC Twente on loan. After three seasons with the Dutch side he established himself as the first choice keeper and in 2010 made the move permanent.
Current Reds first choice goal keeper Pepe Reina has recently been frustrated at Anfield and previously hinted on a move away. He was linked to other top sides such as Manchester United and Arsenal but it seems Reina wants a move back to Spain. The 28-year-old
feels he is close to the end of his career and wishes to win trophies before he finally retires.
Reina arrived at Liverpool in 2005 from Villarreal and was described as “the best goalkeeper in Spain” by then manager Rafa Benitez. He has been their first choice keeper ever since his arrival but has failed to win a major trophy with the club, which has
left him frustrated. He won the Golden Glove for three consecutive seasons; 2006, 2007 and 2008.
However, the promise of regular first team football or the fact that he is vice-captain of the Reds will not keep him at the club. The 2010 World Cup winning goal keeper is eager to win silverware in club football and seems to have decided to return to Spain.
It remains to be seen how longer before Reina actually leaves, but the early stages of the move seem to be in progress.
Mihaylov was confident of the rumours regarding Reina’s wish to leave Liverpool, he said while speaking to reporters, “I know from my agent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011. His desire dates back one or two years. It's not difficult to see this. I know
him well - he's one of the best 'keepers in the world but his current form is not as it should be in a club like Liverpool.”
Even though the Bulgarian international signed a three year deal with Twente in 2010, he revealed he would be interested in going back to Liverpool if Reina did indeed decide to leave. Previously he was unable to stay at the club, having failed to acquire
a British visa, but the 22-year-old does not face that problem any longer since he will now be able to get a work permit.
He admitted his desire to return to the club, he said, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are a huge club. It wasn't possible to get a work visa when I went there but now there'll be no such problems because I'm playing regularly in the national team. I think [the buy-back clause
is] absolutely real. The option was made when Rafa Benitez was in charge.”
