Nerazzurri for landing the youngster’s signature.
The 19-year-old, who arrived at San Siro in the summer of 2011 after netting 15 goals in 37 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord Rotterdam, failed to cement his place in the Serie A giants’ playing XI due to stiff competition.
He only managed to represent the 2010 Champions League winners in six league matches, and expressed his desire to move away from San Siro before the start of the 2012/13 season in order to enjoy regular playing time.
The Tukkers were in the market to sign a striker after selling Luuk de Jong to Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this month, and saw the young hit-man as a perfect replacement for the Dutch international.
Steve McClaren, the Twente boss, was extremely delighted after his side successfully managed to lure the 19-year-old ace to De Grolsch Veste, and revealed that the former Rotterdammers talisman can become the successor of De Jong.
“I am pleased to hear about Luc’s arrival. The important thing is we now have a goalscorer. His first season at Feyenoord says a lot about his character, scoring 15 times. We were looking for a perfect replacement for Luuk, and
I believe Luc can become a good successor”, McClaen said while talking to journalists.
The English trainer went on to insist that Castaignos’ signing has further strengthened his side’s attack, which already include Dusan Tadic, Nacer Chadli and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Rosales-c31362.
“Luc is a good striker, who has plenty of depth and versatility in his game. I am confident that he will adjust at De Grolsch Veste at the earliest, and will play a vital role next term”, McClaren concluded.
Reports indicate that the promising striker will sign a deal that will keep him at FC Twente until the summer of 2015.
