The Dutch international’s agent Louis Laros has confessed that Newcastle United are not the only club interested in signing his client this summer while insisting that his client will only move to a club that suits him
best.
Luuk de Jong’s agent, Louis Laros, has confessed that his client has been on the radar of several European clubs including Newcastle United.
The FC Twente Enschede striker has been performing brilliantly at De Grolsch Veste for the past couple of seasons, and has attracted interest from a host of elite European clubs.
Benfica, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Borussia Monchengladbach, Fiorentina and the Magpies have long been linked with the youngster, and it seems very unlikely that the Dutch international would be plying his trade in Eredivisie next term.
Laros has now made it clear that any interested club should first agree a deal with the club, which has thus far not happened, as the Tukkers management have reportedly set a 22.4 million Euros price tag on their prized asset.
“I can only confirm that there has been interest from Newcastle in Luuk. I know that Newcastle are following him, that is no secret, but a club must first agree a fee with FC Twente and so far this has not happened”, the 21-year-old’s
agent was quoted as saying to the Journal.
The prolific striker, who joined the Tukkers at the start of the 2009/10 season after spending a season at De Graafschap, has thus far donned the jersey of the Enschede giants in 76 Eredivisie matches, netting an impressive 39
goals while bagging plenty of assists along the way.
De Jong’s agent has also revealed that his client will only move to a club where he will fit in perfectly, and has confessed that the striker has already rejected several offers.
“It has got to be the right club for Luuk, and a club that Luuk likes. He has already rejected several clubs who are interested because they are not the right move. I can confirm that Newcastle are not one of the clubs that he
has rejected”, Laros concluded.
The Dutch ace has a contract at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 that runs until the end of the 2013/14 season.
