Co Adriaanse, FC Twente Enschede head coach, was not entirely pleased with his side’s performance in the 5-2 win over ADO Den Haag at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday, September 18.
The tactician revealed that even though his troops played impressively in front of their home crowd, they were still not creative enough to create many opportunities.
“The 5-2 win indicate that we played a good game, but it was an even contest. ADO fall back after losing the ball every time that gave us a hard time to find space. We often played lose balls and ADO intercepted well”, Adriaanse said while talking to the
media.
The vastly experienced manager then went on to reveal that the absence of injured Nacer Chadli and departed Bryan Ruiz has certainly dented his side’s creativity in the centre of the pitch.
“We lost two very creative players, as Chadli is injured while Ruiz joined Fulham this summer. We have creative players like Ola John and Steven Berghuis, but they still needs to further develop their skills”, Adriaanse concluded.
ADO started the match impressively and grabbed the lead in the 14th minute when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lex-Immers-c22181 coolly slotted the spot-kick into the back of the net. However, Marc Janko’s left-footed shot levelled the score-line barely two minutes later.
Both sides played aggressively in the remaining action of the opening half, but failed to score any further. The score-line read 1-1 at the half-time break.
The Tukkers came out in the second-half as a stronger unit and threatened ADO’s defence with their playmaking. The Enschede giants’ impressive play won them rewards in the 56th minute when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-c11600 added his name to the score-sheet.
Fer played an impressive through ball to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956 and he made no mistake in hitting the back of the net from eight yards out.
John Verhoek pulled one back in the 77th minute of the match. However, Emir Bajrami’s stunner put the Tukkers again in control, literally seconds after Verhoek scored.
De Jong sealed the match in the injury time by scoring his second of the evening. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score-line read 5-2 in favour of the Tukkers.
Twente will travel to Amsterdam to face their fierce title rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AFC-Ajax-c38228 on Saturday, September 24. Adriaanse will be hoping that his troops put up a dominant performance at Amsterdam Arena and emerge victorious to keep intact their top position on the
league table.
