http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede managed to win 2-0 against NEC Nijmegen at De Grolsch Veste on December 10. Co Adriaanse, the Tukkers head coach, expressed his happiness after his side’s impressive second-half performance that secured all three points.
The vastly experienced tactician admitted that his side encountered tough opening 45 minutes due to NEC’s defensive approach.
“It was a tough game on our part, especially in the first-half. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018 played a compact game and defended brilliantly. We also lost ball possession too often. Furthermore, we failed to mark Genero Zeefuik, who threatened our defence consistently”, Adriaanse
said while talking to the media.
The 64-year-old then went on to praise his troops' performance in the second-half that eventually led his side to victory.
“The second-half was a totally different picture. We changed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Janko-c23484 and he made a sudden impact. We moved Ola to the right flank and deployed De Jong behind Janko. That led us to play stronger and the breakthrough from De Jong opened
the game for us”, Adriaanse concluded.
In spite of enjoying a number of scoring opportunities, NEC failed to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes. They played brilliantly and put consistent pressure on the Tukkers defence.
Genero Zeefuik had a perfect opportunity to break the deadlock in the fourth minute, but the Tukkers goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikolay-Mihaylov-c28019, saved his close range effort with ease.
In the 22nd minute, the visitors could have taken the lead through Lasse Schone. However, he fired wide of the target and the chance went begging.
The Tukkers goalkeeper then made a brilliant double save to deny Nick van der Velden and Zeefuik from hitting the back of the net.
However, the home side took the game away from NEC in the second-half. 12 minutes after the restart, De Jong intercepted the ball just inside the visitors’ half and made an impressive run towards the box before neatly finishing from 20 yards out.
In the 73rd minute, Nacer Chadli’s clinical finish doubled the lead as the home cruised to a 2-0 win by the end of 90 minutes.
All three points ensured that FC Twente keep their third position in the league table intact, and are five points behind the league leaders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar.
