The Brazilian-born Dutch stopper is of the view that he should leave the Eredivisie outfit this summer to develop his skills further, and confessed that several clubs are interested in signing him apart from Newcastle United.

The 24-year-old, who started his professional career at Joinville in the 2006/07 season, has been representing the Enschede giants since his arrival at De Grolsch Veste in the summer of 2007.
The Brazilian-born Dutch stopper has thus far made 115 Eredivisie appearances for the Tukkers, and has added his name to the score-sheet nine times.
Despite having an ongoing contract at De Grolsch Veste that runs until the summer of 2013, the highly-rated central defender has expressed his desire to move abroad.
“I have spent five good years at this club, and have won everything; Eredivisie title and KNVB beker Cup. It is now time to take the next step in my career. I want to move abroad. I noticed in the season ended that I sometimes
take the games too easy, and then I make mistakes. I want to be tested every week”, Douglas was quoted as saying to Nusport.nl.
Ajax Amsterdam were reportedly taking keen interest in luring the central defender to Amsterdam Arena as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
However, the Tukkers stopper denied moving to De Joden.
“I immediately said I was not interested joining Ajax”, Douglas added.
The talented stopper’s consistent performances at De Grolsch Veste in the recently concluded 2011/12 campaign have garnered him interest from a host of elite European clubs including the likes of Newcastle United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Tottenham.
Douglas has confirmed that several clubs are interested in acquiring his signature before the start of the 2012/13 season.
“I think five clubs are taking keen interest. There is also a bigger club than Newcastle. I cannot confirm anything yet, but I hope that a deal is materialised at the earliest”, the former Joinville stopper concluded.
