“It's very good for Siem. It's very well deserved. In his position, the competition is enormous. But who knows who the coach will take? He's a different type of player to the other one in his position. In any case I like it. I would like to play alongside
him for the national team”, De Jong was quoted as saying to goal.com.
FC Twente were forced to participate in Europa League play-offs after they finished sixth on the Eredivisie table. In the first round of the play-offs, the Tukkers played a 1-1 stalemate against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RKC-Waalwijk-c40370 in the first-leg at Mandemakers Stadion on Friday,
May 11.
De Jong was disappointed with his side’s performance and expressed confidence that they would be able to emerge victorious against RKC in the return leg at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday, May 13.
“It was definitely not a good match. Not 'Twente-worthy'. We were very sloppy. Maybe it was because of the wet pitch, because the ball goes all over the place. It's been a very long season, and we can't play the same way we did at the beginning of the season.
But for the [second leg] on Sunday, I expect no problems. If we pick up our performance RKC will be no problem for us”, De Jong concluded.
