The prolific striker is yet to decide about leaving the Eredivisie outfit this summer, but has not ruled out the possibility of moving away from De Grolsch Veste.
FC Twente Enschede striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956, has admired Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit, S.L. Benfica, and has revealed that he will certainly move away from De Grolsch Veste this summer if a good offer comes in.
The Dutch international, who joined the Tukkers in the summer of 2009 after representing De Graafschap in 14 Eredivisie matches, has been heavily linked with a number of European clubs including Newcastle United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and
Benfica.
However, the Eagles are said to be the favourites to acquire the 21-year-old’s signature this summer to fill in the boots of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Cardozo, who is likely to move away from Estadio da Luz before the start of the 2012/13 season.
De Jong has revealed that he has yet to hear anything concrete from any interested club, and has made it clear that he will certainly move abroad for greener pastures if a good offer comes in.
“I have only read about Benfica's interest on the internet. If Benfica want me, they will have to talk to Twente. They are a great club. I played against Benfica a few months ago. They play good football and have good players”,
the prolific striker was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch forward went on to insist that a move abroad at this point of his career will prove fruitful for his development.
“I am happy at Twente, but it would be a good club to take the next step in my career. I am sure that I could learn a lot there and improve as a player. Let's wait to see if there is something concrete”, De Jong concluded.
The highly-talented striker, who had a brilliant 2011/12 campaign at De Grolsch Veste, netting 25 goals in 32 Eredivisie appearances, has an ongoing contract at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 that runs until the summer of 2014.
Reports indicate that Benfica will have to table a bid in the region of 10 million Euros to acquire the youngster’s services this summer.
