Following FC Twente Enschede’s KNVB beker Cup triumph, striker Marc Janko has urged his side to concentrate on the upcoming title-deciding encounter against Ajax Amsterdam at Amsterdam Arena on Sunday, May 15. Janko has set his sights on the upcoming fixture
and is desperate to emerge victorious to complete a domestic treble.
The Tukkers come from a two-goal deficit to clinch a 3-2 win in the extra-time over Ajax in the final of the Dutch cup on Sunday, and Janko scored the winner in their historic win. However, the prolific striker has urged his side not to lose their concentration
with the win and focus on successfully defending their Eredivisie title.
Janko said, “This is not the time for celebration. We will now concentrate on the next meeting with Ajax to decide the title. If we also win in one week, I will be celebrating. Not now.”
The Austrian International has been unlucky with injuries since joining the Tukkers at the start of the ongoing season. The 27-year-old striker has scored 14 goals in 21 appearances this season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Preud’homme, FC Twente manager, has used the Austrian International very effectively from the bench. Janko’s winner in the Dutch cup final was also scored aftering coming as a substitute. For his part, the striker is not concerned about how he is
being used.
Janko added, “I have no problem with the role of substitute. I can live with that.”
The Tukkers currently sit atop the Eredivisie table, a single point ahead of the second placed Ajax Amsterdam. With only three points left to play for, the Tukkers have every right to remain confident about lifting the Eredivisie title at the end of the
season. Moreover, they would be playing against the Amsterdammers on the final day of the season and a stalemate would be enough for the Tukkers to emerge as the Dutch champions.
