The Tukkers boss Steve McClaren is impressed with the Swedish stopper’s development and has revealed that he will become an integral part of the Enschede giants’ back-line.
Reports from De Grolsch Veste confirm that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rasmus-Bengtsson-c30627, has signed an extension to his ongoing contract.
The 25-year-old’s ongoing contract was due to expire at the end of the 2012/13 campaign, but the new contract will keep him at De Grolsch Veste until the summer of 2015 with an option for another year.
Bengtsson was pleased after signing the contract extension and insisted that he will continue working hard to develop his skills further before moving abroad for pastures greener.
“The new contract shows the club’s confidence in my abilities. I am very happy. I want to develop further in the coming years and will do my utmost to perform whenever I’m given a chance”, the 25-year-old said while talking to the media.
The Tukkers head coach, Steve McClaren, has expressed happiness with the club management’s decision to prolong the Swedish stopper’s stay at De Grolsch Veste.
“We see Rasmus as a key player for Twente in the future. He has made rapid developments in the past year and a half. I also respect his patience during his time in Enschede, as he failed to feature regularly. He goes well in the role he plays behind Wisgerhof
and Douglas”, McClaren was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The Swedish International, who started his career at Trelleborg in the 2006/07 season, arrived at De Grolsch Veste in the summer of 2010 after making six appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hertha-BSC-c39521. He has thus far made 15 appearances for the Tukkers.
If rumours are to be believed, Ajax Amsterdam are taking keen interest in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-c11600 and might table a bid in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Amsterdammers centre-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and the club management sees the Brazilian-born Dutch stopper as a perfect replacement.
If the Tukkers lose the 24-year-old this summer to Ajax, Bengtsson can then become the first-choice centre-back for the Enschede giants.
