FC Twente Enschede boss, Steve McClaren, expressed disappointment on his side’s 3-1 loss at the hands of NEC Nijmegen at McDOS Goffertstadion on Sunday, March 11.
The English trainer insisted that his troops must learn from their mistakes if they have any ambition of lifting the Eredivisie title.
NEC staged an impressive show in front of their home crowd and dominated proceedings throughout the 90 minutes. After failing to break the deadlock early on in the match, the home side took the lead in the 44th minute when Lasse Schone hit the
back of the net from the spot.

McClaren admitted that his side staged a below par performance while NEC dominated throughout the game.
“This was an important game, but we have dropped points. We did not play well and NEC deservingly won. The Englishman went on to insist that his side must learn from their mistakes if they are to become champions.
“Everyone was very enthusiastic before the game. But we just came to know that there is still a lot of work to do. After a good European game, we needed another good game on the weekend. That was not the case. Unfortunately, these things happen in football,
but we must learn from this”, McClaren concluded.
