FC Utrecht management have announced that they have parted company with their manager, Ton du Chatinier, on mutual consent as expected after the Utreg failed to qualify to play in UEFA Europa League play-offs next season. Chatinier offered to leave the outfit
and the club management agreed to part company with immediate effect.
Reports confirm that assistant coach Jan Wouters will take over in a care taker capacity at Stadion Galgenwaard. The club’s official statement read, “The club and the coach had a good conversation. The coach gave his preference to immediately cease activity
with the club.”
Chatinier took over the charge of the Utreg in 2008/09 season and achieved some good results last season, qualifying for Europe’s secondary club competition. His troops performed impressively in their European campaign this term, but were unable to perform
in the decisive weeks of the league and lost their European spot in the season run-in.
Chatinier said, “It is unfortunate but I will look back on a wonderful time. FC Utrecht gave me the chance to coach this great club and we have all achieved great results together both in the league and in Europe. I wish every success for FC Utrecht.”
The outfit from Utrecht’s technical director, Foeke Booy, will now have to search for a new coach before the start of the 2011/12 season. Foeke said, “It is unfortunate that we cannot finish the ride, but we feel that there is insufficient co-operation for
the future.”
In spite of featuring in the top eight Eredivisie sides for most part of the season, the Utreg finished ninth in the league table. Consequently, they missed out on Europa League action.
Reports suggest that Ronald Koeman would be leading the Utreg next season. Koeman has remained unemployed since his removal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hungary-c2920 national team in 2010. Moreover, rumours are rife that Steve McClaren would be Chatinier’s successor, who was sacked
