The former RBC Roosendaal winger has been performing consistently at the Eredivisie outfit for the past couple of seasons, and now looks almost set to join the English Premier League outfit.
Reports in the Dutch and English media indicate that Swansea City are taking keen interest in signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 winger, Edouard Duplan, before the start of the 2012/13 season.
The 29-year-old, who arrived at Galgenwaard Stadion in the summer of 2010 after making 73 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sparta-Rotterdam-c40567, has been staging scintillating shows for the past couple of seasons.
The Frenchman’s consistent performances have garnered him interest from a host of European outfits, with the Swans touted as the favourites to acquire his services this summer.
However, Utreg director, Wilko van Schaik, has revealed that his side has yet to hear anything from the Welsh club.
“Swansea have not officially contacted us. But we have heard they will do that within the short term”, Van Schaik was quoted as saying to RTV Utrecht.
The club director went on to reveal that the French winger does not want to move away from the Utreg, but has insisted that his side will be unable to hold on to their star player if a good offer comes in this summer.
“He doesn't have to leave us, but we know that his contract will expire next season. That would mean we wouldn't be able to request a transfer fee anymore, while if we sold him now, then it would be possible”, Van Schaik concluded.
Duplan, who started his career at Choisy Le Roi in the 2003/04 season, has been plying his trade in the highest echelons of Dutch football since arriving at Sparta Rotterdam in the summer of 2007.
The Frenchman has thus far represented the Utreg in 57 Eredivisie matches, adding his name to the score-sheet 12 times while providing a bagful of assists along the way.
The talented winger, who showed a lot of promise in his early career but failed to live up to his billings, has an ongoing contract at Galgenwaard Stadion that runs until the summer of 2013.
